The Flexible Fee Model (FFM)

The status-quo therapy fee structure is a simple fee for one session model. Unfortunately, this inflexible approach keeps fees high, without being able to provide better value for better offers. As such, I offer a flexible fee model that is adjusted based on scheduling desirability and incentives for you. If you want to read more about why more financially flexible fee models haven’t traditionally been offered by therapists, click here.

Single Session Rates:

Single sessions rates are set on a scheduling desirability basis. This means that scheduling your session for a time that has less demand means you save money. For instance, 6pm on a week day or a weekend morning are high demand, as such they are billed at the normal rate of $160.00/hour. However, 10 am on a weekday is in less demand and is therefore less expensive. The current rate table is set below.

Individual appointments are 50-60 minutes and set at a sliding-in-demand fee between $135.00 to $160.00, depending on the clients preferred session timing.

Week Days (Monday to Friday):

  • 7am to 12pm – low demand – $135.00
  • 12pm to 1pm – moderate demand – $145.00
  • 1pm to 4pm – low demand – $135.00
  • 5pm to 8pm – high demand – $160.00

Weekends (Saturday and Sunday):

  • 7am to 3pm – high demand – $160.00

Couples appointments are 50-60 minutes and set at a sliding-in-demand fee between $150.00 to $175.00.

Week Days (Monday to Friday):

  • 7am to 12pm – low demand – $150.00
  • 12pm to 1pm – moderate demand – $160.00
  • 1pm to 4pm – low demand – $150.00
  • 5pm to 8pm – high demand – $175.00

Weekends (Saturday and Sunday):

  • 7am to 3pm – high demand – $175.00

Holidays are sometimes available by request. Holidays are billed at the standard rate of $160.00 for individuals and $175.00 for couples.

Extended sessions are available (e.g., 90 minutes) at an adjusted fee.

Session Block Rates:

If you know you’re wanting more than 2 sessions, then you can benefit from Session Block Rates. Starting from blocks of 3 session, the per session fee goes down. The vast majority of therapy clients plan to and go on to attend more than 2 sessions. Thus, if you know you are going to need more than a couple sessions, it makes sense that you can receive a better rate!

  • 3 to 4 sessions – 7% discount
  • 5 to 9 sessions – 10% discount
  • 10+ sessions – 12% discount

How does this work? When you sign up for a session block, you will be charged a portion of your total block each session you attend until you have paid for the full block. At this point, you can commit to another block, or go per session. As a further bonus, session block discounts stack on top of scheduling rate reductions.

  • For example, if you sign up for 10 standard fee sessions, you would pay $140.80/session, meaning that you would save $192.00!
  • If you signed up for 10 low fee sessions, you would only pay $118.80/session and save $162.00!

What happens if you no longer need the full block? Congrats! Hopefully this means that things have gone so well that you don’t need any more therapy. If this happens, you will be charged 25% of the total remaining in your block.

  • For example, if you signed up for a 6 session block but decided you only needed 5 session, you would have saved $80.00, but would be charged $40.00 for the one remaining block you didn’t use. Still leaving you with a net discount of $40.00.

Payment Methods:

  • Accepted methods include all major credit cards, debt, or Interac e-transfer.

Session Frequency:

  • While individual needs vary, I typically recommend attending sessions on a weekly or bi-weekly basis to foster continuity and support in your therapeutic journey.

Insurance:

  • Please note that I do not direct bill to insurance plans; however, I provide an official receipt for you to submit for reimbursement. Please check with your insurance plan to confirm coverage for services with a Registered Clinical Counsellor if you are hoping to submit receipts for reimbursement. If you’ve taken advantage of schedule desirability lower rates and/or the session blocks, you are still eligible for insurance reimbursement. See here for more on insurance.

Cancellation Policy:

  • I understand that life can be unpredictable, and sometimes appointments need to be rescheduled. To accommodate all clients effectively, I have a cancellation policy in place.
    • More than 24 hours’ notice: No penalty – you may reschedule or cancel without charge.
    • Less than 24 hours’ notice or no-show: Given life’s unpredictability, if it is your first 24 hour notice or no show, I will waive the no show fee. However, if there are further late cancelations or no shows, I reserve the right to charge for a full session fee.
  • This policy helps ensure that I can offer timely appointments to those in need by allowing me enough time to fill the available slot with another client. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
